Live Marine Debris Art

with Kaya “KLIVICK” Mccoy

WHEN: 1pm-5pm (Sunday, May 3rd, during festival)

Free to the public. Come see local artist Kaya McCoy, better known as “KLIVICK,” putting together a piece of artwork using marine debris LIVE throughout the festival to be auctioned off at the end of day. 50% of the auction proceeds go back to the local non-profit I.CARE to help them continue their work restoring the reefs in the Florida Keys. Donations to I.CARE are encouraged to support future coral restoration efforts.

ABOUT THE ARTIST:

Kaya “KLIVICK” McCoy has a BFA in Sculpture from East Carolina University and a Masters in Art Education from Boston University.  She is a Florida Keys–based sculptor whose work merges art, marine science, and conservation, with a focus on creating environmentally responsible artificial reefs. A sculptor for more than 22 years and a former high school 3D art teacher, KLIVICK draws inspiration from nature at both monumental and microscopic scales, reflecting her deep appreciation for coral reef ecosystems. An avid diver, she is the founder of the nonprofit Tomorrow’s Reef and vice president of Nouveau Reef LLC, organizations dedicated to coral conservation and the development of innovative artificial reefs through partnerships with municipalities and private entities. Her current art concepts involve large-scale underwater installations that embody the interconnected relationship between corals, mangroves, wildlife, and human history in the Florida Keys, highlighting her commitment to ecological restoration, public art, and sustainable ecotourism.
